S’poreans, brace yourselves for 7 long weekends in 2017
For those whose 2016 isn’t going well so far, here’s some much needed silver lining.
The Ministry of Manpower has released the list of Singapore’s public holidays for next year.
There is slated to be seven long weekends in 2017, with holidays either falling on a Friday or Monday.
In total, there will be 11 gazetted public holidays for 2017.
Here are the seven dates you have to pretend to be sick take note of.
January
Jan. 1 (New Years Day): Sunday, but Monday will be a holiday in lieu
Jan. 25, 26 (Chinese New Year): Saturday and Sunday, but Monday will be a holiday in lieu
April
April 14 (Good Friday): Friday
May
May 1 (Labour Day): Monday
June
June 25 (Hari Raya Puasa): Sunday, but Monday will be a holiday in lieu
September
Sept. 1 (Hari Raya Haji): Friday
December
Dec. 25 (Christmas): Monday
The other non-long weekend holidays are as follows: Vesak Day (May 10, Wednesday), National Day (Aug. 9, Wednesday) and Deepavali (Oct. 18, Wednesday)
