Boo Junfeng’s Apprentice has made it to Cannes Film Festival 2016. Here’s the trailer.

Singaporean film-maker Boo Junfeng’s Apprentice has made it to this year’s Cannes Film Festival line-up.

The psychological drama, Boo’s second feature film, will be screened under the festival’s Un Certain Regard section.

This story is about Aiman, a 28-year-old correctional officer, who is transferred to a maximum security prison. He strikes up a friendship with Rahim, who is revealed to be a prolific executioner of the prison.

Boo’s debut film Sandcastle was screened in 2010 at the festival’s parallel International Critics’ Week event.

This year’s selection represents the best of the record-setting 1,869 features submitted for consideration.

The festival is from May 11 to 22.
